Happy New Year blogging friends!

2011 was filled with exciting opportunities and wonderful memories!

What will 2012 bring?

Happiness, wonderful experiences, and more family time.....

....and, my husband and I decided this is the year of

DE-CLUTTERING!

Each month we will pick a room and purge the closet clutter.
It feels good just thinking about it.

Since buying the store last Spring I hardly have

time to catch up on blogging, but I really enjoy when I can read

your blogs and see pictures of all the exciting excursions

and events you have experienced.

Hoping to save for a little excursion this year with the family.

It has been since forever since I blogged.

My kiddos are growing up so fast and the other day

Lane asked if we could have a party for her mermaids.

Sure I said, why not?

So we did.......

Today I spent a little time going through old photographs.

I found this one of Lane taken in April of 2010.

She was giving her bear a smooch.

Loved that moment, the sweetness of that moment.

Harrison at 3 years old.

Being Harrison.

We have a roll down cabinet that is located behind him in this photo.

He could fit inside that cabinet at 3, and he would hide in there, and pop out giggling.

I miss those curls.

Blonde and crazy.

We called him crazy curls.

I sometimes have to remind myself to appreciate the moments I have with them.

To slow down and stop what I am doing, and live in the moment.

Nothing else matters.

Keeping up with facebook, trying to score the latest fashions.....

.....none of that matters right now....

This time goes by so fast, and before you know it, your oldest is in kindergarten,

and your baby is talking back to you. LOL

The other day I found a book my 8th grade math teacher gave me a few years back called

"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, and it's all Small Stuff".

If you do not own this book, go and get it.

It is a great read and reminder to enjoy the simple things, and ignore the drama.

I have missed you and wanted to share a little update.

Since I last blogged, my family and I took a much needed vacation to Florida....

& my baby girl turned 2!!

My favorite time of year.....FALL..

....love everything about it.

Over the weekend we took the kiddos to a pumpkin patch.

They had a ball!!

Lane loved the hayride!!

Harrison loved the corn maze!!

We cannot wait to go to another one next weekend!

Already enjoying everything Halloween at our house.

We have so much fun decorating, dressing up, & pumpkin carving.

I try to make it last the entire month.

We are also football fanatics here....

Back to school....

It is official....

I am the mom of a kindergartner.

I only had tears as he boarded the bus...

and maybe about 2 hours after he was gone....

We met him at school for pictures....

and he had already made a friend on the bus

who gave him an orange silly band to wear....

So hard to see him grow up...

but he loves school and is going to be ok....

I on the other hand...will be fine...eventually.

Don't Save The Best For Last....

I am reading a book my mother gave me a few years back and

one of the chapters really affected me this morning.

The book is called "Things I Want My Daughters to Know",

by Alexandra Stoddard.

It seems we are always saving for something,

only to have a bill come along and deplete the savings....

anyways, I am reading the chapter, "Don't Save The Best for Last"

and it hit me.....

we keep saving for something that may never happen if we do not seize the day.

Here is an excerpt out of the chapter that is going to be my motivation for the day:

Today is the day.

Celebrate it!

Make it thrilling.

Have a picnic with the children today while the sun is shining brightly.

Don't count on the sun tomorrow.

Go to the zoo.

Ride on the carousel.

Fly a kite.

Walk on the beach.

Dance under the stars.

Wear your best nightgown or pajamas tonight;

you are still on your honeymoon if you choose to be.

Look your best, feel your best,

do your best to enjoy yourself now.

Turns out Harrison & I have inner ear infections.

Hit by a mack truck....

Oh my goodness today was rough...

I started the morning a little under the weather,

and throughout the day got progressively worse.

Hit by a mack truck with a summer flu.

EEK!

I cannot get sick.

I am a stay at home mom.

How will this house function?

Thank you to my hubby for being so great to me today.

Lanie bug also is sick.

Here is hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Food poisoning....yuck...

just saying it makes me nauseous...

but it happened to me just 24 hours ago...

Happy to say I am feeling better now...

and 3 pounds lighter....

though I do not recommend that particular form of

weight loss.

Weekend recap!

Another weekend comes & goes. They go by so fast!

We took the kiddos to an animal park.

Lane & Harrison had a blast!

Harrison tried to lock Lane up in the saloon jail.....

but she broke free....

If you all knew what she put us through at breakfast,

you would want to lock her up too.

Did I mention we had to leave a restaurant because

she threw an all-out fit.

Apparently, Lane did not like the 1st restaurant choice,

because she was an angel at restaurant #2.

She was trying to share her food with the waitress,

and was flirting with the customers.

You would never know we had a diva less than

1 hour prior to our wonderful meal.

The day went smoothly after that and we ended the weekend

at my aunt's house watching Dumbo.

Weekend fun!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends!

We had a fun and eventful weekend!

It started on Friday with a follow up visit to the ENT for Lane.

Harrison is so good with her and held her hand as they walked around the waiting room.

Then it was time to read a few books....

followed by a game of "bumper chairs" in the patient room....

It was worth the wait to see Dr. McDreamy. :)

Happy to report all went well with Lane's appointment. YAY!!

On Saturday I helped a friend at her consignment shop.

She hosted a story hour & I was the face painter.

That was a lot of fun, & Harrison was such a good sport....

& Lane was the designated balloon holder.

Sunday was packed full......

with a visit from family all afternoon,

followed by a Birthday party at a local roller rink.

(So ready for her hair to grow so we can try piggy tails!)

Harrison tried skating for the 1st time.....

What a weekend!

I am exhausted.

It is official, I am no longer the mommy of a preschooler.

My little boy is headed for kindergarten.

Yikes!

We celebrated this week with a graduation ceremony, picnic, & a pool party....

it has been quite a week.

Considering just last week Harrison was very ill, it was nice to see him healthy and in great spirits again.

Hard to believe how fast they grow up.

It is such a dreary day today.

2nd day in a row we are housebound due to the weather.

We are big Nick Jr. fans & I finally decided to check out some of the crafting tips on their website.

So today Harrison, Lane, and I are going to try our hands at crafting.

It should be interesting.
Lane likes to eat EVERYTHING.

Today we are going to make a picture banner using clothespins and ribbon.

That is the plan anyways.
You never know what we will actually end up with.

I will have to post pictures sometime this week when we finish.

Harrison wants a place to hang all of his artwork.

4 months until kindergarten....so why am I freaking out now?

Watching Harrison grow up is something I have cherished every second of. For the 1st 3 years of his life I traveled, and had business meetings, late dinner programs, and was ALWAYS working. I was a sales rep, the day never ended for me. Then in February of 2008, I was able to trade roles with my husband and stay home with my son.......He was 3 years old.

Now fast forward 2 years and my sweet baby boy is now 5.

Where has the time gone? Yesterday someone said to Harrison, less than 4 months until kindergarten.

What? Less than 4 months? I had not really thought about it until that moment. Tried to block it out. But the fact is it will be here before I know it.

Don't you wish we could slow time down a bit and keep them little just a bit longer?

I am going to be a mess in 4 months.

Mother's Day is one of my favorite holidays.

A day to honor our fabulous mom's
& all the amazing mom's we know!!

This weekend I feel so lucky to get to share that special day with my mom & my mother in law.

But most important of all, I get to spend the day with my kiddos!

There is nothing on this planet I would rather be doing than being a mom to Harrison & Lane.

I will also be spending some of the weekend with my sisters and niece & nephew.

Here is a picture I took of my sister Jamie & niece Brooklyn last fall.

We had been playing outside all afternoon & Jamie did not want me to photograph her,

but I could not resist.

My sister is the world's greatest mom, and I love her so much.

When we feel overwhelmed, there is nothing like the sound of mom's voice on the phone to calm us.

She is also not afraid to say "snap out of it", "quit worrying about things you cannot control",

or my favorite, "it will all be ok".

LOVE you MOM!!

Thanks for believing in me and being such an inspiration to me and our entire family!

Most important of all, thanks for being the world's greatest grandma to all of your grandchildren!

Several months back I was searching Etsy for shoes for Lane.

That is when I stumbled upon Mia Joie and fell in love.

I was like a kid in a candy store when I discovered Mia Joie.

Everything was so beautiful..... the shoes, the scarves, the headbands......

and then I met Jessica, the fabulous designer behind it all. She is amazing!!!

I was a mom struggling with a little depression, and loneliness.....

I was still adjusting to being a stay at home mom after 9 years in sales.

But Jessica opened my eyes to a whole new world.....blogging!

I had never even visited a blog before Jessica's and once I got a taste of this new window to the

outside world, I was hooked. I also found a whole new amazing group of mom's I feel blessed to

call my friends. I no longer felt so alone and isolated. I felt a new sense of confidence.

My little rock star....

I feel kind of bad. I have been so focused on Lane and her surgery, her baby stage, and her.....that I have neglected to share how crazy I am about a sweet little 5 year old boy named Harrison......MY LITTLE ROCK STAR!! He loves to be crazy, wear crazy clothes, sing loudly, dance the "crazy" dance, draw crazy pictures, and play his little electric guitar. LOVE this little boy.....he is my heart.

We woke up earlier than usual yesterday morning to take Lane to Pittsburgh for surgery.

It went very well and the entire procedure lasted less than 10 minutes.

Her Dr. told me there was a little infection around the eardrum, but he cleared it out and inserted the tubes and all is well with her ears. We have to insert drops in them for the next 5 days, but that is ok with me. As long as I don't have to give her antibiotics...ever....again!!

Here she is right before surgery wearing her peep toes. :) She was not happy to be in this robe, and she gave the nurses a hard time, but her feet looked cute.

So we get home and it was such a beautiful day we all decided to do yard work. Lane decided to try out her big brother's scooter for the first time.

I then went to get the mail and in my mailbox was a sweet surprise.....3 beautiful hair clips made by Jenni, a dear sweet blog friend....

I love them and Lane wore the cream clip all afternoon.

Baby Lane will have surgery tomorrow...tubes...finally!!

What a winter we have had. My little Lane had 5 double ear infections over the course of 5 short months. We were able to get in with a pediatric ENT just last month and he scheduled her for surgery. She will have tubes inserted in both ears tomorrow. YAY!! The Dr. is wonderful and said the procedure will take less than 15 minutes to complete and within an hour of surgery we will be on our way. So excited for my baby girl!!! Hope you all have a blessed & healthy weekend.

What a difference a year makes....

It has been one of "those" weeks. One in which I am so far behind on housework I am tempted to let it all go......one that has me driving to 12 different appointments for the kiddos.....one that has me stressed....

So I decided this afternoon to slow down, stop driving myself insane, and make a list. Top priorities first, and the nice to do's last. If I can do 3 things a day to completion, then we are good.

I also started looking through Lane's pictures. I have 3 baby books started but I have yet to finish them. One is of her 8 & 9 month photographs. I started looking through them & looking at her then vs. now. WOW! What a difference a year makes. She is "reading" board books, in her baby talk of course....saying so many words, cracking us up daily. She is sweet, loves to share her food, her sippy cup, her toys....she is
mischievous and stealthy....loves to hug & smooch you....yes, I feel so blessed.

So when I start to feel myself getting overwhelmed I will slow down, look at my list....and decide is it worth it to get myself stressed? If not, then it gets moved to the next day.

I don't want to get so busy that I forget to enjoy the little moments with Harrison & Lane.

Ready for a healthy season....

It has been such a rough few weeks. The kiddos have been sick and Lane had her 5th ear infection since October. The poor baby ended up in the ER on Friday and was admitted for dehydration and an infection potentially caused by overuse of antibiotics. It was so hard to see her hooked up to an IV and she was quarantined away from other hospital patients. Luckily we could take her home late Saturday and already she is on the road to good health. She is drinking her pedialyte and eating normal amounts of food again.

On to Harrison. Well, he has been taking antibiotics for 14 days to clear up a sinus infection and just today started showing similar symptoms of dehydration and an upset stomach. So we are eating our weight in pedialyte pop's and drinking lots of sugar free lemonade.

I have been praying and will keep on praying for a healthy spring season. We went to see the local Easter bunny last week and I just have to share the picture with you. The kids were so excited to meet the bunny & share their wish lists- well, Harrison spoke for Lane: she wanted the Wonder Pets toys and he wanted Max & Ruby and art supplies.

WOW! It has been a hectic and stressful few weeks. Between Dr. visits for both kiddos, rounds of antibiotics, trips to the ENT, and trying to keep a semi-sane house, it has gotten the best of me. I am officially sick. Yuck!
I tried everything to keep from getting the colds that have circulated through this house since September, but this time the head cold won. So, we are taking it easy, trying to get better, and I am so excited because my friend Amy of Evy's Tree launched her new spring hoodie line tonight and nothing, I mean NOTHING could keep me from snatching up some of these.
Her hoodies are beautiful, and each one is hand embellished by Amy. Lane & I dressed up in them yesterday, put on our smiles, took our meds, and decided to head to my mom's to visit. Cabin fever had set in & we needed to get out for a bit. Plus mom bribed us with Easter candy.

What a week! I should be sleeping right now, but my mind is racing so.....why not blog?

In honor of Dr. Seuss's Birthday, it was Tuesday, preschool has been celebrating all week with fun activities. Harrison wore his clothes backwards on Wednesday, and today was crazy hair day. So in honor of one of our favorite household authors, here are a few pictures of my sweet Harrison sporting crazy blue hair. He did not want to wash it out.

Next week the fun will continue with more activities surrounding all things Dr. Seuss.

I could not resist this picture of Harrison hanging out in a tin basket I purchased on clearance at TJ Maxx. He had to make sure it was ok for the stuffed animals in Lane's room that will call it home. :)

I was reading my friend Nicole's facebook page and she posted a story about a beautiful baby girl named Layla Grace....she is only 2 years old and she is very ill. She has cancer and she is going through so much pain. It breaks my heart.
Her mother is a beautiful and strong woman & has a blog that is she updates daily. She shares every struggle, every moment, and I wish I could hug her and do something to help take away the pain. Please pray for her today. If you should see this blog post, please go to her page and read about baby Layla. She is such a sweet & beautiful baby and my heart breaks for her and her family.

Winter fun...

We have been trying to make the most of this wintery wonderland. Today Harrison & I went sled riding and had so much fun. The sun was shining, the hill was perfect for sledding, and....the sun was SHINING!!! Finally....

A few weeks ago we took Lane for her first sledding adventure.

Harrison's preschool class went sled riding a few weeks back & I took a few pictures. This one was my favorite. Harrison with his "wife" friend. I asked him, "what is a wife friend"? He told me, "you know mom, when you grow up and get married....geesh mom"....and then he let me know when they play house at school, he is the dad & she is the mom. OK.....you are 5......let's just be 5 ok. I have to admit it is sweet......but....you are 5!!!

The director at preschool took this one of the 2 of us. We had so much fun that day.

An Honest Scrap

Oh my time flies!! My friend Amy at The Adventures of the Miraflor Familysent this award to me the 1st of February. I am so excited! Thank you Amy. With this award I am supposed to post 10 interesting things about myself.....hence the lag in my post. 10 interesting things about me? That is harder than it sounds. It forced me to sit down and think. Do I have 10 interesting things to share? Well, after sharing these 10 interesting things I am then supposed to forward this to 7 other "honest" bloggers. OK, I can do this. So here goes.........

1- I am a stay at home mom to 2 kiddos. Harrison is 5 & Lane is 1. I rarely find time to myself, but when I do I enjoy a Starbucks vanilla latte or an iced caramel macchiato (depends on my mood)....and an of issue US Weekly or In Style magazine.

2- I really believe my husband is amazing! Really....he was a stay at home dad with our son for 3 years while I traveled in sales and he "gets it". He understands where I am coming from and can sympathize with me when he comes home from work and I have not showered, the kids are half- dressed, and the house is a mess......thank you babe!

3-I LOVE vintage statement rhinestone necklaces.....& I have been known to wear them around the house during the day.....in my jammies.

4-My guilty pleasures include shopping on Etsy, grabbing coffee with girlfriends, admiring the beautiful things at anthro, dreaming up beautiful vintage pieces to decorate my home, and laughing...mostly at myself.

5-My husband & I were married on a beach in Key West 10 years ago this year. Hard to believe 10 years have gone by. I am still just as crazy about him, maybe even more in love with him now.

6-I cannot get enough vanilla bean cupcakes.....I wish they were calorie free. Nothing more delicious than a vanilla bean cupcake smothered in buttercream icing. Yummy.

7-My favorite food is sushi....living in this area I miss it. There are no sushi restaurants within a 30 mile radius so this is another guilty pleasure. Especially fresh steamed edamame and philadelphia rolls with extra wasabi.

8-If money were not in short supply here I would travel more. Visit beautiful beaches with the kids and shop flea markets for unique vintage pieces. My dream is to one day visit Paris.....ooh the french markets. A girl can dream.

9-I am a coffee addict....and if I am making it at home, there is about 50% creamer in it....love the International Delights Buttercream.

10-I love art and in a former life dabbled in unique artsy crafts that may one day inspire me to open an Etsy shop. For now I am focused on the kids and maintaining a semi-clean home and semi-sane life.

Oh what a weekend. Hard to believe it is Sunday already. Where did the time go? Do you ever have days where you just want to get in the car and drive........just drive and keep on driving. No destination, no plan, just drive until you get "there" and you just sit and........ breathe.

Yes, .....I was there. Yesterday.

So today the kids and I baked a heart shaped cake for fun and had my in-laws over for dinner to share it with them. What a wonderful meal, and it was nice to have an extra hand to help out with the kids for a few hours. So to find balance I have decided to host a pot-luck meal with our parents at least once a week so we can enjoy time with them and try to manage this balance thing a little better......Maybe.

What a week! Never a dull moment and finally at 11:42 pm on Friday night I am lounging in front of the t.v. and relaxing. I would not trade this life in for anything in the world though. Earlier I read another mom's blog-one experiencing similar crazy moments & I smiled, knowing I am not alone. The craziness of each day balanced with the sweetness of our children makes life worth living. I feel truly blessed with each new day and I am learning to balance it all a little better every day. Blessings to you & yours.

I am sooooo excited because my new computer arrived yesterday and I am officially back online. It has been so strange not having access to the internet for 2 weeks. I realized just how addicted I was though. I also realize how much fun I can have when I am not online 24 hours a day, so I will probably only be blogging once a week from now on. Hopefully now that I have a new computer I will also be able to download pictures again. Happy Saturday everyone. :)

Yay! It is Friday and I am so excited the kids are finally on the mend. My son is looking forward to a fire in the fireplace, roasting marshmallows to make smores, and watching s few Christmas movies.....yes, he wants to watch Christmas vacation and a Charlie Brown Christmas. So that is our exciting but relaxing Friday evening. Cannot wait to snuggle with the kiddos and my husband on the couch. Cheers to anyone that reads this. Quite a scare....

I am so thankful to God for such a beautiful day with my family. We made chicken soup together, laughed at the Easter Snoopy video my son insisted we watch tonight, and reveled in the fact that we are all finally on the mend.
We have all been so sick the past few weeks. Lane ended up at the Doctor's on Monday to have breathing treatments and steroid injections to help her breathe. She had a case of croup that went terribly wrong and so terribly fast. I am learning to take nothing I have for granted and to treasure every moment I have with the people I love.
We had quite a scare on Monday, but that was Monday and today is a better day. Tomorrow will be even more fabulous. Lane is almost back to her vivacious little 10 month old self. Love that little munchkin so much!

Fall is in the air....

The smell of fall is in the air. My favorite season. Football games with the kids, toasting marshmallows in the back yard, piles of leaves to jump in....picking apples off the trees.
First order of business is getting the kiddos over their colds, then the fun times can begin. :)

Just 1 more day and my son will be back to preschool. This is his last year before starting kindergarten. I ran into an old friend today at the Labor Day parade. I asked where her kids were? One was in the parade, and the other, her "teenager" was at home. He did not want to look uncool going to the parade with his parents. I then glanced down at my son, candy bag in hand and so excited to be there, and I took a picture....in my mind of this sweet 4 year old that would one day be a teenager, too cool to go to the parade with mom and dad. I realized how he has already grown up so much and is changing every day. I am embracing this time I have with him and his baby sister and savoring the sweetness of their innocence and giggles and wishing maybe just for a moment, that they could just stay little.

OK, so I have been toying with the idea of adding a "few more" highlights to my hair and finally made the appointment. While at the salon I even talked my sweet hairdresser into making the blond chunks "bigger". Well, I never pay for a blow out to save money. As soon as I got home my kids jumped right on me and I started dinner, so maybe 2 hours went by before I looked in a mirror. EEK!!! Not good. I am platinum in some places and on a fair & freckled complexion thanks to my fabulous Irish heritage- it looks pretty ghastly. So, my sweet hairdresser agreed to fix it tonight. Thank you Amy- you really are the best!!!! :)

I am trying this whole live in the moment thing and this was not one of my better decisions. Live & Learn right?

I am watching my 8 month old sleeping peacefully and thinking about all the fun activities I have planned for the kids this weekend. We are trying to pack in as much as we can before school starts. I ]have to admit I am looking forward to school starting back up again. Having a routine and a little alone time with the baby a few days a week is going to be nice.
